Description

The Ellig Sports Complex includes the Schlanser Track, two soccer fields and four softball diamonds. Completed in 1997 at an original cost of $2.3 million, the complex is home to the Bison outdoor track and field and softball programs. North Dakota State hosted five North Central Conference championship track and field meets at the Schlanser Track between 1997 and 2004, and the complex has also played host to the North Dakota Special Olympics and professional soccer exhibitions. The running track has a Pro-Turf surface over all nine lanes and is 400 meters in length. Bleachers for up to 3,500 spectators, formerly at longtime NDSU football home Dacotah Field, line both sides of the track and natural-grass field. Restrooms and a concession stand are housed between the track and softball diamonds, and there is a soccer scoreboard above one end of the field. The NDSU softball diamond has dimensions of 200 feet down the left-field line, 210 feet to center field and 205 feet down the right-field line. There is an electronic scoreboard located above the right-center field fence and a full-sized infield tarp is available. The softball entrance is on the north side of the complex between the softball diamonds and research park.
