Welcome to the NDSU High Level Vision Lab.
The Balas Lab is interested in two big questions about visual recognition:
- What features do we use to recognize things in the real world?
- How do we learn to recognize the things around us?
We use many different methods to try and answer these questions, including behavioral experiments, EEG, eye-tracking, and computational modeling. We also consider many different kinds of visual recognition; How do we recognize faces, textures, places, and movements?
Understanding visual learning is something we study by trying to train adults to recognize new things and also by asking kids of all ages to do some of the same experiments we run on adults.
Here, we describe some of our current projects. For more information about a specific study, please visit our Publications page, or write to us at balaslab.ndsu@gmail.com.
