Neottiglossa -  Old World Species

Key to Old World species of Neottiglossa (modified from Stichel, 1961; Wagner, 1966)

1     Abdominal venter pale with dark punctures, punctures laterad of spiracles concolorous with sternite; each spiracle surrounded by small black spot; punctures on exocorium concolorous with surface

–     Abdominal venter often with extensive dark areas or bands, at least some punctures laterad of spiracles fuscous; each spiracle usually surrounded by small pale spot; punctures on exocorium usually fuscous

2(1) Scutellum distinctly longer than coria, lateral margins just beyond apex of frena subparallel for short distance, apex broadly rounded

leporina (Herrich-Schäffer)

–     Scutellum at most only slightly longer than coria, lateral margins just beyond apex of frena not subparallel, slightly convergent, apex narrowly rounded

bifida (Costa)

 

 

3(1) Head from lateral view strongly bent or angled ventrad

–     Head from lateral view nearly horizontal or only slightly and gradually bent ventrad

4(3) Lateral margin of head arcuate; bucculae rounded ventrally; abdominal venter usually black medially and often with a lateral black band

lineolata (Mulsant & Rey)

–     Lateral margin of head slightly convex basally, angled medially, then substraight to apex; bucculae angled ventrally; venter usually more or less black

pusilla (Gmelin)

 

 

5(3) Abdominal venter black medially

metallica Jakovlev

–     Abdominal venter pale medially, becoming darker laterally until nearly solid black near lateral margin of abdomen, edge along connexiva pale

flavomarginata (Lucas)
