A total of 30 NDSU students, staff and faculty have been nominated for the prestigious Mary McCannel Gunkelman Recognition Award. The recipient will be announced during the 26th annual award ceremony Wednesday, May 7, at 3 p.m. in the Harry D. McGovern Alumni Center.
The award was established in 1987 to recognize the student or employee who has made the most significant and unselfish contributions to creating a happy environment for the enjoyment of NDSU students. It is named in honor of Mary McCannel Gunkelman, a 1942 graduate of the NDSU College of Home Economics who died in 1985.
Student nominees include: Keith Bistodeau, mass communication; Erik Diederich, construction management; Lindsey Feyder, civil engineering; Juan Francocoronado, plant pathology; Jared Hansen, electrical and computer engineering; Ruchi Joshi, environmental and conservation science; and Mary Pfeifer; ITS/art.
Staff nominees include: Wendy Baumann, Center for Global Initiatives; Marilyn Dowdy, international student and study abroad services; Daniel Erichsen, ITS; Austen Germolus, animal science; Kelly Haugen, College of Pharmacy, Nursing and Allied Sciences; Garrett Hittle, Residence Life/emergency management; Wanda Hughes, Dining Services; Ronda Klubben, health, nutrition and exercise sciences; James Kirsch, animal sciences; Kelly Paynter, communication; David Peterson, Residence Life; Kaarin Remmich, registration and records; Lea Roberts, education; Matthew Skoy, Memorial Union; Bradley Steen, NDSU Bookstore; Shelly Swandal, agribusiness and applied economics; Rosie Wagner, Dining Services; Sharon Wheeler, Dining Services; LaVon Whipple, Dining Services; and Karla Young, Spectrum.
Faculty nominees include: Robin Albert, mathematics; Anthony Flood, history, philosophy and religious studies; and Rachel Richman, microbiology.
