Elastic Cartilage

Elastic cartilage is like hyaline cartilage to which a network of elastic fibers has been added. The elastic fibers give it much greater elasticity than hyaline cartilage, which tends to fracture when it is bent. Elastic cartilage is found in places like the pinna (ear flap) and parts of the larynx (voice box).
