Roommate Matching

New-to-NDSU Students

If you will be new-to-NDSU next year as a first-year or transfer student, here are 4 ways you can sign up as

  1. Use My College Roomie to find a roommate: My College Roomie is an online platform that allows you to find the most compatible roommate for you! Think of it like match.com, but for a college roomie!

Beginning Monday, December 2, you will gain access to My College Roomie. Log in, create a profile, and complete a questionnaire. After that, you will be able to look at other profiles and see your percentage of compatibility. For example, maybe you will be 78% compatible with Jill, 83% compatible with Jane, and 96% compatible with Joy. At that point, you can send messages to any or all of your matches to connect further or to request someone as your roommate!

Roommates must be officially matched-up in My College Roomie by Friday, March 7, 2025. Remember, being "friends" is not the same as being matched roommates. One of you must request the other as a roommate, and that person must accept the request.

  3. LGBTQ+ Roommate Matching: Residence Life is committed to providing a safe and inclusive environment for all students who live on campus. The LGBTQ+ Roommate Matching process has been established for students who identify as LGBTQ+ and for those who are allies.

  4. Room assignment by Residence Life: Are you cool with whoever ends up in your room? No problem! Just sit back and relax. Residence Life will pair you with a roommate and you will be notified on Campus Connection after an assignment has been made.
