Scholarship Thank You Note/Letter Instructions
- All scholarships are contingent upon recipients writing an appropriate thank you note/letter to the donor(s).
- You may use the template below as a guide to writing your own note or letter. Note cards should be on a professional looking card (folded card, not a recipe/index card). Letters should be printed on letterhead (resume-like) paper.
- Thank you notes should include: greeting the donor, expression of your gratitude, discussion of how this will impact you, your year in school, activities, interests and future goals, thank them again, and signature. If you plan on using an 8 ½ x 11” piece of paper, please plan to fill it. Otherwise, a nice handwritten thank you card that is legible is the most appropriate if your note is short.
- You will receive an email at the end of spring term with specific details and deadlines regarding thank you note information. If you did not receive this information, please contact ndsu.cobscholarship@ndsu.edu.
- Submit your thank you note or letter to Miranda Schlichting, Barry 100C or the Dean's Office 102 Barry Hall. Please leave the note or letter in an envelope with return address in the upper left corner, unsealed, and stamped. (If your donor is within our College, you do not need a stamp.) Your thank you will be mailed or placed in the appropriate College mailbox after reading for appropriateness.
- If you are unable to personally deliver the return addressed, unsealed, and stamped thank you to Miranda Schlichting, place it in separate envelope and mail to Miranda Schlichting, NDSU Dept 2400, PO Box 6050, Fargo, ND 58108-6050. Do not mail thank yous directly to your donor/s. You will not be compliant with the scholarship requirements.
- Your thank you will be reviewed for quality. If it is not well-written or reflective of the standards of the College of Business, it may be returned to you for revision.
Thank you notes are due by August 25, 2023.
