botany, was a former educator, researcher and administrator at NDSU and Colorado State University. He served as dean and chair of the botany/biology department at NDSU, and also served as chair of the Tri-College University Center for Environmental Studies. His honors included the NDSU Doctor of Service Award and a 1960 Fullbright scholarship to study in Germany. He lived in Fort Collins, Colo.
