His Air Corps bomber was shot down behind enemy lines, and he and three other crew members were rescued after being missing in action for 35 days in northern Yugoslavia. He had a 27-year career with the Farmers Home Administration, administering loans to farmers in Dickinson, Bowman, Cooperstown and Bismarck, N.D., and Washington, D.C. He lived in Bismarck.
