He was a member of an American delegation of attorneys that negotiated prisoner exchanges in London, Dublin, Moscow and Stockholm in 1981. He also served on the Mandan School Board and was elected president of the North Dakota State Bar Association in 1988. He lived in Mandan, North Dakota.
