The second half of his career was as a health care management engineer, working at Bishop Clarkson Memorial Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska; East Texas Medical Center in Tyler, Texas; and St. Luke's Hospital in Fargo. He retired from American Crystal Sugar in Moorhead, Minnesota. He lived in Moorhead.
