former faculty member, joined NDSU’s Department of Plant Pathology in 1969 and became department chair in 1988. He continued in the chair position until his retirement in 2004. His research was in host parasite genetics of wheat leaf rust and flax rust. He worked with plant breeders for varietal development, and was published extensively on host resistance and host-parasite interactions. He lived in Fargo.
