agricultural economics, operated a diversified farming operation in Hamilton, North Dakota. In 1970, he was elected the North Dakota House of Representatives, and was re-elected four times. He later was chief of staff for Gov. George Sinner, and chaired the Growing North Dakota committee. He also was marketing coordinator and business development director for the North Dakota Department of Agriculture. He was the first recipient of the Wally Beyer Rural Development Award by the North Dakota Association of Rural Electric Cooperatives, and he received the NDSU John Lee Coulter Award and the Northern Plains Sustainable Ag Society’s Friend of the Farmer award. He lived in Bismarck, North Dakota.
