agricultural economics, had a career of more than 30 years in higher education, including roles of dean and director of the University of Wisconsin Cooperative Extension Service and director of Michigan State University Extension. He also was a consultant to the World Bank. He was the 2013 Distinguished Alumnus of the NDSU College of Agriculture, Food Systems and Natural Resources. He lived in Apple Valley, Minnesota.
