agronomy, was a researcher at NDSU, where he as instrumental in the development of Roughrider, the first winter wheat variety ever released by the North Dakota Agricultural Experiment Station. He later worked in the private sector with DeKalb AgResearch in Wichita, Kansas, and Hastings, Nebraska; and HybriTech Seed International in Wichita as research director of the hybrid wheat program. He lived in Pullman, Washington.
