civil engineering, worked for the Bureau of Reclamation in Bismarck, North Dakota, retiring in 1980. He was a member of the U.S. Committee of the International Commission on Large Dams. He also was national president of the 517th Parachute Regimental Combat Team and president of the North Dakota chapter of the Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge. The World War II Army veteran lived in Fargo.
