mathematics, early on taught at St. Cloud State University. He also worked as a master farrier and taught equine care classes at several Minnesota vocational schools. He later expanded his farming operation, M&O Farms, from a 180-acre field to more than 10,000 irrigated acres. He eventually built the largest climate-controlled potato warehouse in the country. He lived in Park Rapids, Minnesota.
