agricultural education, was a retired colonel who served in the U.S. Army Veterinary Corps, where he managed food safety, quality assurance, veterinary public health and animal medicine programs on tours in Italy, Thailand, South Korea and the United States. He also taught at Baylor University and Tulane University.He later joined the Nevada Department of Agriculture as an epidemiologist. He lived in San Antonio, Texas.
