zoology, was elected a 2019 fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the world’s largest multidisciplinary scientific society and publisher of the journal Science. He leads the University of Minnesota Sea Grant program. He also is a research scientist at the University of Minnesota-Duluth Large Lake Observatory and a professor of biology at UMD.
