mechanical engineering, worked more than 30 years with Factory Mutual, specializing in liability and industrial inspection within the engineering division. He then moved into the Factory Mutual sales division selling industrial insurance. He retired in 1987 and later joined the Hayes Group in a leadership role. He lived in Wayzata, Minnesota.
