NDSU Search and template updates

Next Thursday, 4/10, changes are coming to TYPO3 CMS.

NDSU Search plugin

This plugin will allow visitors to use the NDSU search from within a site instead of visiting www.ndsu.edu/search directly.  It will replace the current search plugin used in sites.  It offers faster response to search queries than the current plugin.

New version of the TYPO3 template for NDSU

Pages should look the same to Web visitors as they do now, but with critical behind the scenes improvements.

Noticeable changes include

  • Inclusion of the new NDSU search plugin
  • Updates to the "last updated" processing so that the actual last updated time can be overridden by the "Last updated" field in page properties
  • Updates to make it easy to use different navigation menus, such as hand-picked black bar navigation links instead of the default navigation links - more information <http://www.ndsu.edu/cms/?id=10712>
  • Updates to make site banners a link to the site home page
  • Updates to appearance of border content border/background
  • An RTE processing fix to allow horizontal rules (<hr/> tags) to be inserted without being padded by an empty paragraph
  • Updates so the RTE can display content the way it will look once published
