  28. Co-investigator along with Dr. Frank Yazdani of the Department of Civil Engineering, North Dakota State University for a $2167 grant from the Standing Rock College, North Dakota to study the top soil characteristics in the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation for use as a building material.
  29. Awarded a $1100 Iowa State University's Instructional Development Grant in May, 1987, to develop a "Computer-Based Design Education System" in collaboration with Clare Cardinal-Pett and Jamie Horowitz, two other faculty members of the Department of Architecture.

Citation from the Secretariat of the King Fahd Award and the International Commission for the Preservation of Islamic Cultural Heritage for the design entry, "The Festival of Turkey in the USA: The Mimar Sinan Traveling Exhibit," in the first King Fahd Awards Competition for Design and Research in Islamic Architecture (1986) - an international design competition. The design has become a part of the permanent archives of the Commision in Istanbul, Turkey.
