Comments: Fieber (1860) proposed Platysolen as a replacement name for Aelioides Dohrn (1860), and so must take the same type as that genus (Cydnus inflexus Wolff, 1811); Kirkaldy (1909) believed this to be a new generic name and erroneously designated Platysolen griseus Fieber, 1861 as type species.  The New World species were recently revised by Rider (1989).
