bergrothi Haglund

-       Body broad; base of scutellum only slightly elevated; under surface of thorax and at least sides of venter distinctly punctate

3

3(2)   Very dark; head dark reddish brown, very densely and uniformly punctate; lateral margins of pronotum blackish with only tips of humeral angles reddish brown

charon Linnavuori

-        Pale, distinctly variegated species; head more or less irregularly punctate

4

4(3)   Venter indistinctly sulcate; antennal segments 2-4 uniformly black; first and fifth joints yellowish brown

tibialis (Walker)

–      Venter with distinct median sulcus; antennal segments 2-4 not uniformly black

5

5(4) Fourth antennal segment black with whitish base; veins of membrane usually variegated with fuscous patches

schiodtei Bergroth

–     Fourth antennal segment black with pale middle ring; membrane and veins always uniformly brown

6

6(5) Lateral margins of pronotum totally pale; entire venter punctate with brown

variegata (Palisot de Beauvois)

–     Basal part of lateral margins of pronotum black; middle of venter largely impunctate or provided with very obsolete concolorous punctures (South Africa)
