Tanglefoot 1898
General:
This advertisement was directed at the
druggists or other sellers, rather than the buyers, and much of the text is
presented in semi-poem form.
Front:
The image on front depicts a young man
peacefully eating a meal. Beside him on the dinner table is a large
section of flypaper. Above him to the upper left is an image of himself
eating another meal with flies surrounding him. The caption simply reads:
"A recollection. Use Tanglefoot."
Back:
The text on back reads: "TANGLEFOOT.
SEALED STICKY FLY PAPER."
"Popular aversion to flies is growing, and Fly Destroyers are
coming into greater use. Of all means for their destruction Tanglefoot is
the most practical and the best on account of its greater efficacy, cleanliness,
endurance and cheapness. This is why the sale of Tanglefoot increases
yearly."
"To increase your sales of Tanglefoot let your customer see
it in actual use in your store, in the Holder; They will follow your example.
Every customer to whom you sell a box of Tanglefoot will remember it with
pleasure every day of the summer."
"There is a good profit in Tanglefoot."
"Prices for 1898. In the United States East of the
Rocky Mountains. 30 Cents a Box - 25 Double Sheets. $2.55 a Case -
