Insecticide Products

One of the main methods used to control insect pests has been through the use of chemicals.  Nearly everyone is aware of the discovery of the effectiveness of DDT during World War II, and the resultant prolification of insecticide use. And then Rachel Carson's  book Silent Spring causing a new awareness about the hazards of insecticide overuse.  Even so, insecticides are still an important part of today's more integrated approach to control insect pests.  Additionally, insecticides were used prior to the discovery of DDT.

The great number and variety of insecticides through time have made it difficult to categorize for the sake of this website.  Initially, I have grouped them by their main use (agricultural, garden, household, veterinary); they may be further grouped by the target insect group (ant poisens, roach poisens, etc.), some may be grouped by chemical type, while others may be grouped by company.
