Kelsey Slater, Assistant Professor in NDSU's Department of Health, Nutrition and Exercise Sciences collaborated with Tanya Kramer and Tasha Cary-Waselk from International Student and Study Abroad Services on a successful proposal to host an IDEAS Workshop at NDSU. The workshop titled "Career Catalyst: Developing Impactful Study Abroad Programs to Prepare Students for their Future Careers" is scheduled for October 25, 2024.
The day-long workshop which is funded by the U.S. Department of State and focuses on how faculty, staff, and study abroad administrators can utilize study abroad to prepare students for the next steps in their career. The workshop will provide guidance on creating specific career preparedness activities, including a presentation on building strategic partnerships abroad to create internships, volunteer placements, and clinical experiences for students. A full agenda will be available in August 2024, when registration opens.
Dr. Slater previously won an IDEAS grant to development a study abroad program in the sport management program, and we are excited to continue to encourage international education opportunities at NDSU.
