The past year has been one of transition. Despite change, our division continues to provide the support, service and partnership we have a reputation for to support the mission of North Dakota State University (NDSU) as a student-focused, land grant, research university.

Perhaps the most noticeable change to the campus community, we have transitioned off of our own instance of Blackboard and have integrated with the North Dakota University System's Blackboard. Our staff worked hard to support faculty and staff in transitioning course materials to the new environment.

We also completed an RFP for a personal response system (aka Clickers) in partnership with campus faculty, providing a campus-wide license to our students for these classroom tools, ultimately saving them money.

We continued our focus on security, convening our group of 15 staff regularly to discuss and look for opportunities to increase our security in existing and new systems and processes. We also completed rolling out Multi-factor Authentication to our faculty and staff for all NDSU services.  We planned a sold-out North Dakota Cyber Security Conference in March, however a blizzard forced us to cancel the event.

In the coming year, we look forward to working with our partners across the University to continue providing service and security to our students, faculty and staff.

Tegrity lecture capture enables instructors to record their on-screen display and audio from the classroom and produce an integrated audio-video product. It has indexing and other features allowing students quicker access to lectures. Beginning summer semester, NDSU switched to YuJa as our lecture capture solution.

Blackboard Learn is an online learning management system that allows faculty to interact with students, post grades and facilitate assignments. At the beginning of the summer semester, NDSU transitioned to the North Dakota University System's shared Blackboard instance.

The TLMC provides a variety of support, consulting and multimedia services for the campus, including video and audio recording studios, multimedia software and specialized equipment, editing and consultative services, classroom project support, multimedia coursework assistance and technology workshops. Workshop topics included MS Office and Adobe software, audio, video, photography, Google Apps and others.

NEO Operations Team Supports Network, Wireless, CableTV, Card Access, Emergency Blue Phones and Video Surveillance for 112 NDSU building network locations on and off campus, all on campus parking lots and walkways around campus.

• Completed $375k, upgrade to 612 wireless on-campus access points with 3 year support agreement
• Developing 2020 wireless upgrade plan for residence halls
• Implemented upgraded wireless network system controllers
• Expanded Wi-Fi services to fill all identified campus coverage gaps
• Completed StageNet on-campus network connectivity presence to 100Gig, to allow future NDSU connectivity up to 100Gig
• Expanded fiber network communications between Research Park buildings R1 and R2 to support growth needs for CCAST
• Completed wired and wireless network, card access and video surveillance implementation for the new Cater Hall, West Dining Center remodel and card access and video surveillance for 1701 apartments
• Filled 2 open FTE positions
• Initiated analysis for the potential addition of NDSU based AT&T “Micro Cell” towers in 2020

The Information Technology Division is committed to “Delivering Core Solutions and Propelling Innovation” by sustaining reliable infrastructure systems designed to maintain a robust and dynamic core network foundation. The organization’s culture and strength is also expressed by its passionate desire to serve the needs of the campus community through relationships and partner collaboration. In tandem with our campus partners and colleagues, we engage in discussions of discovery, evaluation and implementation regarding new technology tools or state-of-the-art innovations envisioned to enrich teaching, learning or research outcomes.
