Prior to coating evaluations, coated 24-well plates and panels are immersed in a custom-built, once flow-through water tank system for an appropriate period of time to facilitate removal or “leaching” of toxic impurities (i.e., residual solvent, catalyst, monomers etc.). The system consists of a series of aquarium tanks that are exposed to a continuous flow of municipal water. Each tank is isolated in terms of water flow (i.e. no tank-to-tank recirculation) to eliminate the potential of cross-contamination events.
