Native American Heritage Month 2024
Native American Heritage Month, celebrated in November, is a time to recognize and honor the history, culture, and contributions of Native American, Alaskan Native, and Native Hawaiian communities, highlighting their traditions, languages, and stories while also acknowledging the complex past and ongoing struggles faced by Indigenous peoples in the United States. At NDSU, Multicultural Programs and New Beginnings will host several events honoring the local Indigenous community.

Opening Ceremony

Please enjoy our opening ceremony, with opening remarks, food, treats, and a local Indigenous Drum Group.
Thursday, November 7
Walk Through Indigenous Eras
Memorial Union: Oceti Sakowin Balroom, 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Consider viewing our visual display. Walk through a maze of seven historical eras that illustrate Native American history.
Wednesday, November 13
Birch Bark Pin Craft
Memorial Union: Room of Nations, 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM
Join us as we welcome Brandon Baity, of the Fargo Indigenous Association, as he walks us through a tutorial on a Birch Bark Pin activity.

FARMS Presentation
Memorial Union: Sahnish, 11:00 AM – 12:00PM
Langston Johnson from the FARMS team will be doing a presentation on FARMS, their work, and how it ties to the Indigenous Community.

Coloring Contest
Memorial Union: Office of Multicultural Programs, 11:00 AM – 1:00PM
Throughout the Month of November, at each event and in OMP itself, we will have different coloring sheets in different Indigenous Languages available for students color. All sheets must be turned in by November 25th to be considered for judging on the 26th. The winner will be announced after the holiday break on December 2nd.
