Big-headed grasshopper
Adults
- Foveola triangular.
- Lateral carinae strongly constricted and marked with white.
- Often with dark markings on pronotum, markings not clean-cut.
- Tegmen without transverse bands, but may be spotted with a pale streak on dorsal field.
- Outer face of hind femur brown with partial dark cross-bands indistinct.
- Hind tibia blue.
- Subanal plate of female with a median projection.
- Highly mottled coloration.
- Appear exceptionally big-headed as do A. femoratum and P. nebrascensis.
- Foveola triangular and visible from above.
- Hind femur with triangular dorsal patch.
- Nymphs in Spring and early summer.
