Message from President Cook
July 10, 2024
Hello, everyone.
I’m here today from the annual Agronomy Field Day event at the Dickinson Research Extension Center.
It’s the start of our North Dakota Tour, bringing us across the state for the next two weeks. This is my third year participating and it’s an incredible learning experience every time we do it. It's absolutely beautiful out here.
NDSU faculty, extension staff and researchers share new knowledge with the districts they serve. It's a true testament to our institutional land-grant mission.
The tour started yesterday at the Central Grasslands Research Extension Center in Streeter.
In Dickinson today, we'll learn about topics such as:
- How much lime does my soil acids need?
- Data driven conservation.
- Phosphorus management of soybeans.
- Noxious weed management via drones.
We'll take a look.
[Take off.]
I think I have an awesome job.
- West River demands of sulfur.
- And more.
Tonight, we will visit the Hettinger Research Extension Center, where there will be a ribbon cutting for their new livestock facilities before we head out to tour their fields.
Tomorrow, we head back to the Dickinson Research Extension Center to learn more about livestock.
This is one of my wife's favorite events to participate because of, of course, her love of animals.
That afternoon we will host a social in Watford City, for the public to attend and learn more about what we have going on at NDSU. And then later that evening, there's an agronomy and horticulture tour at the Williston Research Extension Center.
The tour ends in Williston on Thursday morning with an irrigation tour.
It'll be a very busy two weeks but we're very much looking forward to it.
Follow along and engage us on social media.
I'll be back with another video next week, highlighting Week 2 of the two-week tour at the Agronomy Seed Farm in Castleton.
I hope you all join us out here as we crisscross the state.
And Go Bison!
