Message from President Cook
April 2, 2025
NDSU Community,
I am writing to update you about recent federal actions.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently announced funding cuts to grants related to COVID-19. We are working closely with affected research teams to reduce any potential impact on individuals, teaching, and research. We appreciate the prompt and collaborative efforts of departments in these research areas in developing a potential response plan.
Yesterday, a multi-state lawsuit was filed against the CDC regarding these cuts, seeking a temporary restraining order (TRO). The TRO has yet to be granted but we will continue to monitor the situation, stay connected with funding agencies, and prepare for any further developments.
As a reminder, please promptly share any grant-related termination or stop-work order information with Val Kettner at Val.Kettner@ndsu.edu and Karin Hegstad at Karin.Hegstad@ndsu.edu upon receipt. This will allow us to provide assistance, offer guidance, and ensure proper procedures are followed. Please also continue with timely submission of all eligible expenses.
NDSU’s Federal Action webpage is a valuable resource for updates on this situation. We encourage you to check it regularly for the latest information.
Please know we remain committed to supporting our employees and students as we navigate this transition. While uncertainties remain, we will face these challenges together as a strong and resilient NDSU community.
Thank you,
David Cook
