I am from Willmar, MN and received bachelor's degrees in Biological Sciences and Business Administration from NDSU.

How did the NDSU MPH prepare you for the workforce?

Although I am not currently working, I feel my MPH degree has improved my interactions with patients as a medical student. During patient encounters, I use public health principles to comprehensively understand an individual's social circumstances; this has improved my ability to comprehend how their daily activities affect their health. I will continue using this knowledge in the future as a physician, to enhance the health and well-being of my patients. 

Current academic pursuit

I am currently a second-year medical student at A.T. Still University in Kirksville, MO. 

How are you impacting the health of the community with which you work?

I serve as the Community Health Education Officer for the Community Health Education - Kirksville organization. In this position, I work with members of the organization to stay aware of current peer-reviewed literature in the public health field. I also oversee the health education documents we prepare, to ensure they are tailored to the community we serve.
