Small Space Gardening
More and more people are living in urban areas where a house with a large yard is not an option. Small space gardening has its restrictions, but it does’t have to be restrictive. It’s simple to let your individuality stand out in a small space garden. But the limited space means you are going to have to make some tough choices. Design is still a big part of small space gardening, maybe even more so than with a larger garden.
There are many ways to utilize space with small space gardens. One of many options would be to use vertical gardens, with small spaces you should always utilize the space that you have, including the space above your head! Another couple of options are to use raised box gardens, use miniatures and dwarf plants, or try container gardening.
Gardening in Containers
Container gardening is simply growing your garden in containers! Container gardening can help put us back in touch with nature, especially if you spend most of your day indoor. Americans are spending more and more time in homes, offices, and stores, leaving us feeling nature deprived.
Container gardening can allow for more flexibility, make it feasible to garden where no yard or soil is to be had, in our concrete jungle.
Container gardening can be an ideal solution for people with physical limitations that prevent them from working down at ground level. It can also be the answer for those with soil problems.
For anyone, growing annuals in containers can provide an extra dimension of gardening pleasure, both outdoors in summer and indoors in winter. Keep a chain of new flowers blooming in pots throughout the seasons, so that your home and yard will never be short on color. In spring, enjoy cool-season flowers like forced bulbs, primroses, and pansies. In summer, grow tender perennials and annuals like impatiens and begonias. In fall, enjoy late bloomers like asters and mums.
