Common Name: DayLily Family Name: Hemerocallis ~ In Greek, this means 'beautiful for each day'. *The daylily is a monocot in the Lily (Liliaceae) family.They were originally found in Manchuria, Mongolia, and Northern India. Dr. A.B. Stout began to work with daylilies in the 1920's and since then they have been grown and hybridized by people around the world. |

*Daylilies are low-maintenance perennials. They are mostly free of disease and insect pests, need full sun to partial shade, grow in diverse soil types and are drought tolerant. Daylilies have a long season of bloom, from late May to hard frost.They create the most impact when planted in groups to provide a beautiful mid-summer color. |

*The best time to plant daylilies is in the spring or autumn. Adding compost before you plant will help improve your soil and they recommend to plant each lily 18-24 inches apart. Consistent watering will produce better quality flowers. |
