Title: Polytopes - points or planes?
Abstract: Polytopes are n-dimensional
geometric objects analogous to polygons. In this talk, we’ll play
with definitions of polytopes in terms of points
and planes, explore a famous theorem of Birkhoff and
Von Neumann, and look at more recent examples of polytopes.
Even though it’s hard to visualize geometric objects in dimensions
higher than three, it turns out that with the right mathematical tools, we
can give a beautiful description.
