English 120 Research Report, Project #2

Hardcopy due the week after Spring Break

Bring to class a research report in which you summarize the claims and evidence for each side of the issue you've researched.

Below is a clear and easy way to do it.

Simply write your issue, stated as a questions, at the top of a sheet of paper. Under this, divide the sheet into however many sides you are summarizing.

Notice that, in the sample below, I've listed specific studies, facts, reasons, general principles, first-hand accounts, and quotations by expert sources for each side. (Obviously, I've made everything up, but you get the idea: I've gathered LOTS of evidence for each side, and I've compiled different TYPES of evidence as well.)

Include what you find in your research, but ALSO include anything you can IMAGINE a given side would likely say in support of their side.

Be sure to research the issues thoroughly so that you know what all sides think! Be objective.
