MTS Dynamic Mechanical Materials Test System

Dr. Dinesh Katti and Dr. Kalpana Katti received instrumentation research grant to purchase a new dynamic test system. The MTS load frame rated for dynamic loading along with hydraulic power supply, high speed data acquisition and control system, hydraulic grips and other accessories is located in the geotechnical engineering laboratory. The device will be used to extend the ongoing research in nacre-based nanocomposites, swelling clays, saturated clays and composites for bone replacement to include dynamic loading rates. The equipment will benefit the graduate and undergraduate students working on above research topics.
