- Lateral carinae strongly constricted and marked with white.
- Hind femur banded, knees black.
- Hind tibia orange.
- Tibial spurs (calcaria) of markedly differing lengths- 'like a turkey foot.'
- Typical slantface hopper color pattern.
- Square to rectangular lateral foveola.
- Hind tibial calcaria of markedly differing lengths.
- One color morph is wholely blackish-brown with a light brown dorsal surface.
- Nymphs in Spring and early Summer.
