White-crossed grasshopper

Adults

  • Foveola triangular.
  • Pronotum with a black lateral patch.
  • Lateral carinae strongly constricted and marked with whitish- the X pattern.
  • Wings shorter than abdomen.
  • Hind femur with broken black bands.
  • Hind tibia blue.
  • Female subgenital plate with two notches.
Nymphs
  • Possess adult color pattern but with greater contrasts, hind tibiae gray.
  • Appear especially 'big-headed' as do nymphs of A. elliotti and P. nebrascensis.
  • Lateral foveola triangular.
  • Nymphs in Spring and early Summer.
