There are three species in this group, only T. diversellus is common in North Dakota; T. pallidipennis apparently is a very local species which may occur in extreme southwestern ND and along the western SD border. T. salina has been found in Northwestern NE and may be expected in SD. The species are separated by:

a. Ratio: head width/posterior pronotum 0.82-0.92
b. Ratio: forewing length/hind femur length 1.85-2.09
2. Trimerotropis pallidipennis
a. Ratio: head width/posterior pronotum 0.82-0.92
b. Ratio: forewing length/hind femur length 2.08-2.35
3. Trimerotropis salina
a. Ratio: head width/posterior pronotum 0.91-1.04
b. Ratio: forewing length/hind femur length 1.86-2.09
