A Key to the superfamilies of the Lepidoptera
with special reference to North and South Dakota


 

10a (10-1)  Maxillary palpi as long or longer than labial palpi, often folded over base of proboscis. Superfamily Incurvarioidea (part) 

Tegeticula yuccasella (Riley), labial palpus (green arrow), maxillary palpus (blue arrow).

Two families of Incurvarioidea which key to this point can be separated as follows.

 

10a'  Maxillary palpi minute and never folded.  Superfamily Yponomeutoidea (part). 

 

Plutella xylostella (Linnaeus), labial palpus (green arrow), maxillary palpus (blue arrow). 

Six families of Yponomeutoidea which key to this point are separated as follows.
