A Key to the superfamilies of the Lepidoptera
with special reference to North and South Dakota


 

10g (10f).  Broad winged moths, hind tibiae with dorsal hair tuft at base. 
Superfamily Urodidae


 

Family Urodidae.  Male with lamellate antennae and a costal hair pencil on the hw.  More than 60 species world wide.  One of the two North American species is a recent introduction.

10g'  Narrow winged moths, hind tibiae with dorsal spines.  Superfamily Schreckensteinioidea

 

Family Schreckensteiniidae.  Ocelli absent, vertex smooth scales.  Presence of hind tibial spines is distinctive.   The single known genus contains five species, three of which occur in North America.
