A Key to the superfamilies of the Lepidoptera
with special reference to North and South Dakota


 

17 (16").  Forewing with Rs veins arising from two stalks.  Superfamily Mimalloidea 

 

Family, Mimallonidae, Sack-bearers, Most species have falcate or scalloped forewings.  The frenulum reduced to non-functional bristles.  Larvae construct a portable case.  There are about 200 species world wide and 4 in North America.
