A Key to the superfamilies of the Lepidoptera
with special reference to North and South Dakota


 

9b (9a)  Forewings with tufts of metallic scales, without branched veins beyond discal cell.
     Superfamily Yponomeutoidea (part).

 

Family Heliodinidae, Sun moths.  At least 16 genera and 70 species world wide with another 20 or so additional  mono-basic genera that have been assigned here by various authors.  Seven genera and 31 species are known from North America.  See also couplet 10d.

The Family Douglasiidae includes 25 species world wide and five species in North America.
