Identification key to the Noctuinae occurring in the Dakotas

B2.  (B1)  Orbicular spot an elongate oval more than three times as long as wide.
    Agrotis venerabilis Walker.

B2.'  Fw length 16-22 mm., smallest specimens male.  Throughout the Great Plains.
    Agrotis robustior (Smith).

B2."  Fw length 12- 16 mm., largest specimens female.  SE South Dakota in our area.
    Agroits gladiaria Morrison.*
