Identification key to the Noctuinae occurring in the Dakotas

1.  (key-3a)  Ordinary spots and claviform spot with pale outlines.
               Chersotis juncta (Grote).*
 

1"  Median shade angled sharply outward along Cu stem, basal fw pale.
               Cerastis salicarum (Walker).*

1"' Wings not as above, meta-basitarsus with four rows of setae.
               Paradiarsia litoralis (Packard).
