Hi. You've reached the unofficial FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) for the AWEA-Wind-Home list on Yahoo!Groups.
A FAQ table of contents (TOC) is available for a quick glimpse of the site structure. You can link to every page in the FAQ directly from there, and it is in the footer for each FAQ page.
This really is a compilation of many frequently asked questions on this list, however, rather than giving the questions and the answers here, I've located the questions and/or the answers the "experts" on the list have given, so I'm letting them do the speaking. This is a resource for topics that have been discussed on this list since February, 1999.
This is a volunteer job, so if you find any links that are outdated, find other errors, or even if you think something might not belong where it was placed, please send the errors to the email address in the footer and they will be corrected as promptly as possible. I am doing this for your benefit, so I will try to do whatever I can to help make it easier for you to access the information contained herein.
We are honored by the presence of wind gurus and some higher profile wind folks that are on this list, and appreciate your checking out some of these links before asking common questions, because they've already spent a lot of time answering questions already. If you still have questions, feel free to ask. Some of our better known list members include:
Tom Gray our AWEA representative who sometimes moderates the group
Hugh Piggott UK wind guru
Paul Gipe well known wind energy author
Mick Sagrillo US wind guru
Ian Woofenden editor for Home Power magazine
Eric Eggleston US Wind Energy Researcher
We are also honored to have several manufacturers monitoring this list who have some input from time to time:
Elliott Bayly former World Power Technologies owner
Mike Bergey Bergey Windpower
Andy Kruse Southwest Windpower
Juan Bornay J Bornay
Please feel to make your introductions to the list. Near the end of this FAQ are some example introductions we've had in the past.
The FAQ contains:
a) information that pertains to any alternative energy (e.g. wind, solar, hydro) system
b) information for people who want to use manufactured turbines, including experiences of people on this list with these turbines
c) information for people who want to make their own turbines
Disclaimers: (of course they are necessary)
The American Wind Energy Association maintains the AWEA-Wind-Home list as an open discussion space for those wishing to learn more about home energy systems. AWEA takes no responsibility for opinions or technical advice provided on the list.
This compilation is simply an entry point into the archives of the AWEA-Wind-Home list. To get a thorough understanding of these topics, it may be wise to do some digging through other sources, or peruse more of the archives than what is listed here. Use this at your own risk. This is by NO means a thorough listing of any one topic, and in some cases simply touch the surface of a given topic. What is here are notable excerpts from the list discussions.
