An example where two genes, A and B control a trait.

A allele = 4 units
a allele = 2 units

B allele = 2 units
b allele = 1 units

The following table give the resulting phenotypic distribution if two heterozygotes were crossed.

The results in the above table are presented in graphical format in the following figure.  As you notice even with just two genes, the distribution approaches the normal curve.  The normal curve is one feature of a distribution for a trait controlled by many genes.
